Saway

Finally some pictures! Although they're on facebook. Anyway quick update, today at work we helped make bracelets for a couple of hours/music party with justin bieber.. yep, highlight. Moi loved it and she thought it was funny we were singing along. (it's okay i'm 12 years old or something). Then Jenna and I went with a few ladies at work to some markets.. a warehouse to get paper supplies and pick out colors, and a street market to look at possible designs.. it's funny because they really value our opinion, they want to know what is popular in the states so that the designs and cards they make will sell. They also have started making jewelery to sell, too. Anyway, in my down time I now have to scavenge pinterest for upcoming christmas card design ideas and colors.. it's a fun job! Later on when we went to the local market with Umpaa, Moi, Olay and Pam, and man they have some crazy stuff! Everything from the insides of a pig, to frogs, live fish flopping around until you want to eat it... definitely not any tourists so we were quite the zoo attraction, feeling quite tall and farang-like. So everyday we try to learn new Thai words or phrases, and I take notes phonetically, but recently they taught us beautiful - saway.. and Moi and the girls point to their skin saying 'no saway' and point to Jenna and I and say 'saway'.. makes me so sad and frustrated because they are so beautiful and such happy people.. interesting how the grass is always greener on the other side to us... we want tan skin and they want light skin. Enjoy what you have, I figure!
So just another adventurous day, baking in the heat savoring any minute we get with a fan or even better some AC in 711 ... 711 stores are a hundred on every block! Awesome. Now the sun is setting, the rain is looming (pray for some rain!), and dinner is being prepared by my sweet mom, Yai.
Have a great week!
This last picture is where I work... I love it.. and inside the hut is shaded and there are fans, whoop!
